Is it still possible to stop the effects of climate change?

Everyone has contributed to climate change. More people are becoming conscious of their potentially harmful ways and how it has affected the world we live in, many still need to be made aware of the extreme environmental changes that are happening. Janique Goff Madison explains that while climate change is happening now, there are still ways to lessen its negative effects with the right changes.

One of the ways to slow down the destruction caused by increasing temperatures is to lessen one's carbon footprint. Governments and large-scale companies are also responsible for creating solutions that will encourage individuals to do their part in saving the environment. Decreasing food, chemical, and technological waste might not entirely stop the effects of climate change overnight, but it can reduce the damages, especially for high-risk areas.

Another way to stop the effects of climate change is to switch to green energy by reducing oil and gas, which causes climate change by emitting too many greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. You could also switch to green energy by getting electricity from solar panels on your house or commuting in an eco-friendly car like one powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The more people do these things, the more we will be able to reduce the effects.

Janique Goff Madison shares that another long-term solution would be to plant trees. The more trees there are in the world, the better able they will take carbon dioxide out of the air. Avoiding the use of aerosol sprays (like bug spray, deodorant, air freshener, etc.) might be a small thing but it will contribute to cleaner air. Walking, biking, and using public transportation, instead of using a car when alone will also reduce one's carbon footprint as it uses up less gasoline and helps save more trees.

There is still hope that humanity will truly find a solution to prevent the adverse effects of climate change. While mankind is trying to adapt to the changes in the environment, doing their best in the meantime seems to be the best way.
